A hunting trip to New York state for three brothers turned into tragedy when one of them allegedly shot and killed the other two — then fled in a vehicle belonging to a victim, according to authorities.
On Monday, Nov. 24, Scot Thompson, 65, of Englewood, Fla., was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree criminal use of a firearm in connection with the shooting deaths of his brothers, Mark B. Thompson, 70, of Canterbury, Conn., and David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Fla., New York State Police said in a statement.
The three brothers were staying in a hunting cabin on Botsford Hollow Road in Allen in Allegany County when they got into a fight around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, according to police.
One of the brothers called 911, but by the time officers arrived, they found two brothers dead inside the cabin.
During the altercation, Scot allegedly shot his two brothers with a rifle, according to police.
Scot fled the scene in David’s vehicle, police allege.

Deputies and officers from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneseo Police Department tracked down the vehicle and took Scot into custody at 8:27 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24.
Scot was turned over to New York State Police Troopers for processing.
He remains held in the Allegany County jail, according to online jail records.
It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.
