Staying warm is the objective before the objective. The right outerwear can make the difference between having a blast all day on the snow and calling it early. This holiday season, equip your loved ones for all kinds of cold-weather endeavors with high-quality outerwear from The North Face.

Below are the brand’s top picks for all-season parkas, ski and snowboard jackets, cozy fleece midlayers, and accessories like boots. If you need more options, visit The North Face’s website to explore their extensive line of winter apparel.

Shop The North Face Winter Gift Guide

Hydrenalite Down Hoodie — Men’s & Women’s: $250 & $220

This bomber-inspired puffy jacket is designed to work as both a heavily windproof outer layer and a warming midlayer. It has a lofty 600-fill recycled down insulation and fully recycled, water-repellent fabric that performs during daily commutes and side quests off the beaten path.

We appreciate that this jacket is lightweight, compact, and made from recycled materials. The Hydrenalite has encased elastic cuffs, a high collar, internal cord adjustments, zippered hand pockets, and a front zipper covered by a draft flap. For a non-hooded version, there’s also the men’s and women’s Hydrenalite Down Jacket.

McMurdo Parka — Men’s: $400

The McMurdo Parka is one of the warmest jackets The North Face makes outside of its expedition-level collection. A healthy dose of 600-fill recycled down insulation rests behind the jacket’s waterproof, breathable two-layer DryVent shell.

It comes with a stormflap, two patch chest pockets, and zippered welt hand pockets. An attached hood adjusts with the pull of a drawcord and has a removable faux-fur ruff to catch incoming snowflakes.

ThermoBall Hooded Jacket — Men’s: $220

The ThermoBall puffy jacket is a modern classic with fresh updates for greater performance. For instance, you’ll note an updated quilting pattern to minimize cold spots. Less noticeable, the fabrics and synthetic fill are all 100% recycled. This makes them part of the brand’s Circular Design initiative, which aims to minimize waste and pollution.

To help keep you warm wherever you wander, the jacket’s WindWall shell fabric shuts out wind chills while its durable, water-repellent finish resists rain and snow. It has a cinch-cord hood, zippered hand pockets, and elastic cuffs. When you don’t need it (but need it within reach), the jacket packs down into its own hand pocket.

Aconcagua 3 Jacket — Men’s: $200

Designed to be an everyday all-arounder, the Aconcagua 3 jacket can keep you warm throughout your daily routine. The midweight layer mixes recycled down and synthetic insulation to help keep you warm, while the water-repellent finish helps bead moisture if you’re caught in the elements.

Chilkat V Lace Waterproof Boots — Men’s: $135

If you took a pair of popular hiking boots and winterized them, you’d get the Chilkat V Lace Waterproof Boot, which has some new updates. The North Face used several waterproofing materials and treatments to help ensure your feet stay dry, and that means making them breathable, too. Even in damp conditions, there’s a healthy amount of the brand’s Heatseeker Eco Synthetic insulation to help maintain warmth.

Inside, there’s a lightweight foam cushioning and an internal collar to secure your heel. The leather upper’s molded-TPU shell offers hike-friendly flexibility. The rubber outsole is designed to excel in winter conditions while providing traction and protection on rugged terrain.

Another plus is that these boots are ready for more than just hiking. They come with rustproof metal hardware, a D-ring for attaching gaiters, and a heel clip for snowshoe compatibility.

Sierra Etip Gloves — Men’s: $40

Enjoy the comfort and warmth of high-pile fleece against your skin in the Sierra Etip Gloves. It has a micro-dotted palm for grip and phone-friendly fingertips. The North Face uses a zigzag stitching pattern in the wrist for a better fit.

Arctic Bomber — Women’s: $300

New to The North Face’s Arctic Parka line, the Women’s Arctic Bomber introduces a slightly shorter silhouette with all the warmth and weather protection you’d expect. The jacket has 600-fill recycled down insulation and ribbed cuffs and hem to keep you cozy. And its 100% recycled DryVent body fabric is waterproof, wind-blocking, and breathable with a durable finish that beads water on top.

Diamond Peak Insulated Jacket — Women’s: $170

This jacket oozes casual style with its diamond-shaped quilting, oversized fit, and a high-low hem with big side slits. But this is The North Face, so even this jacket offers a light ThermoBall insulation and wind-resistant WindWall fabric with a water-repellent finish. This isn’t something you’ll want for winter hikes, but rather a cozy shoulder-season layer and town-friendly pick once winter weather kicks in.
