A 17-year-old is facing a murder charge, with authorities alleging he fatally stabbed another teenager at a house party on Long Island earlier this month.
The Suffolk County Police Department said a fight broke out at a house party attended by 90 to 100 teenagers in West Babylon, N.Y., on Nov. 3.
Liam Delemo, 15, was stabbed at the party, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
On Monday, Nov. 10, police said they had arrested a suspect — a 17-year-old male, whose name has been withheld by authorities because of his age.
The 17-year-old, who local NBC4 reported is a student at Syosset High School, has been charged with second-degree murder. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted, per the outlet.
The victim’s parents spoke to CBS New York, saying that Delemo was conscious when they arrived at the house after learning their son had been stabbed.
“He was stabbed once in the left side of the gut and he had a huge slice down the left side of his arm,” Mike Delemo told the outlet. “My son is laid out on a deck bleeding, basically, at that point, to death.”
The outlet reported that Delemo was in his junior year at West Babylon High School, where he was an honor student.
A GoFundMe has been started in support of the family to raise money for Delemo’s funeral expenses.
“To know Liam was to love him, his laughter, his kindness, and his pure heart brought light to all around him,” the fundraiser reads. “He had a way of making every day brighter, and his presence will forever be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
“During this devastating time, we are asking our community to come together in love and support for his parents, Michael and Hope, as they navigate the unthinkable loss of their beloved son. No family should ever have to face such pain alone.”

According to reports from CBS, Fox 5 and The New York Times, police also arrested Bonnie Miranda, who owned the home and allegedly allowed her grandchild to host the party.
Miranda is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and violating the county’s social host law. It is not immediately clear if she has entered a plea.
