A New York man has been convicted of murder in the October 2024 killing of his girlfriend’s teenage son.
The victim, 15-year-old Michael Raimondi, was killed in his family’s Somers, N.Y. home on Oct. 28, 2024, the Westchester County District Attorney’s office said this week.
Michael’s mother, Christina Raimondi, and his then-13-year-old brother were also shot but survived the attacks.
Fernando Jimenez Meza pleaded guilty on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025 to several offenses including murder in the second degree, per a press release issued by the district attorney’s office.
Meza, 41, was in a relationship with Christina at the time, The Journal and ABC 7 NY reported.
On the night of the murder, Meza was in a “verbal dispute” in the Raimondi residence, per the release. After the fight, Meza grabbed a revolver from his car and shot Christina.
He then went into the children’s bedroom and fired several shots at Michael and Matthew.
Michael was killed in the incident.
Matthew and Christina were both in critical condition following the shooting, their family said in a GoFundMe set up immediately after the attacks. Christina was fighting for her life, the fundraiser stated.
In an obituary posted online in November 2024, Michael was remembered as a curious child with “boundless imagination” who thrived among animals and nature, and built “unique automotive LEGO masterpieces” with his family.
“A born tinkerer, Michael saw limitless possibilities in everyday objects,” read part of the tribute, later adding: “…when he chose to express himself, he was purposeful with his words–whether or not you caught his message through his layers of cleverness and wit was on you.”
In an update posted on the GoFundMe in July 2025, Christina shared that the family was relocating and was about to close on a new home.
“This is my first home purchase, something I never imagined doing alone,” she wrote. “I wish more than anything that Michael was here with us to share this moment. He deserves to be here. I miss him every single day.”
