On Thursday, Oct. 30, the Pittsburgh Police Special Victims Unit received a report from the U.S. Marshals Service about a juvenile who went missing from Louisiana, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.
Marshals began investigating and determined that the teen was located at a home on Davis Ave. in Pittsburgh.
The FBI obtained a search warrant for the home, which was raided by a police SWAT team.
The girl was found in the basement of the home “in a box with a gray-colored sheet over (it), covering the box and her person,” the complaint says.
She told authorities that she met Crumity on Snapchat. He told her he “was to get her adopted by a trusted adult,” the complaint alleges.
The child made it to a Greyhound Bus station in Washington, D.C., where she met a woman who asked if she needed help.
She said yes and called Crumity, telling him she was going to bring a friend with her to Pittsburgh.
That night, the girl, the woman and Crumity slept in the same bed in the basement.
The girl said that Crumity gave her edibles and alcohol during the week she was there, the complaint alleges.
