A man suspected of murder was mistakenly released from a California jail — and now authorities are searching for him.

On Wed., Oct. 22, Isaiah Jamon Andrews of Kent, Wash., was released from the Martinez Detention Facility in Martinez, Calif., the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office announced in a statement on Monday, Oct. 27.

Andrews was being held on a juvenile warrant out of Sacramento, and on an out-of-state arrest warrant on suspicion of homicide, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the release.

In the statement, the sheriff’s office said that “after staff realized Andrews had been released, we launched a search of the immediate area and confirmed that Andrews was no longer in the area.”
