Authorities in Texas have arrested a man after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
Christian Alejandro Fonseca, 20, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal trespass and harassment, the Laredo Police Department said.
According to police, officers responded to a stabbing report in the 100 block of St. Pierre Lane on Friday, Oct. 10 at 1:48 a.m.
“The caller had indicated that it was a known male, a person who she had previously been in a relationship with, who is now an ex-boyfriend,” Laredo Police Department spokesperson Joe Baeza tells PEOPLE. “The person was allegedly outside of the residence jumping on the hood of the current boyfriend’s vehicle.”
According to police, the current boyfriend allegedly went outside to confront Fonseca. Fonseca allegedly then stabbed the man and tried to barge inside the woman’s home, per police.
Fonseca fled the scene but was soon picked up by officers a few houses away.
According to police, Fonesca had an active criminal trespass warning prohibiting him from going near his ex-girlfriend’s residence.

The woman’s new boyfriend suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack, police said.
Fonseca was transported to Webb County Jail where he remained held without bond as of Sunday, per the Tampa Free Press.
It’s unclear if he has retained an attorney.
