A Georgia man was arrested after authorities allege he fatally shot his girlfriend inside her family home.
Sebastian Prestridge, 19, is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the Oct. 9 shooting death of his 19-year-old girlfriend, according to a statement from the Lawrenceville Police Department. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
Officers were called to the home around 1:20 a.m. and found the victim in an upstairs bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head, FOX 5 Atlanta reports. She was then pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers, per the police statement.
The girl was identified as Nina Ramirez on a GoFundMe created by loved ones.
Nina’s mother, Maria Carmen Ramirez, told WSB-TV that she holds no ill will against her daughter’s boyfriend. “When you get mad and these things happen, you want to find something guilty [or] someone guilty, but I think it was just an accident,” Ramirez said.
Police said Prestridge remained at the scene and was detained without incident. “All occupants of the residence, including the suspect, are cooperating with investigators,” the release states.
Nina was remembered on the GoFundMe as “a bright, passionate, and fearless soul who brought light and love into the lives of everyone who knew her.”

“Though Nina’s time with us was heartbreakingly short, her impact will last forever,” the fundraiser reads. “She will be remembered for her courage, her humor, her loyalty, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.”
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
“This is an incredibly tragic situation, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones,” said Captain Dena Pauly, Public Information Officer for the Lawrenceville Police Department. “Our investigators are working diligently to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this young woman’s death.”
