A Florida woman who previously became pregnant while in jail is now on trial for murder.

Daisy Link made headlines in 2024 when she gave birth to a baby whose father was also in jail at the time of conception — despite the two having never met in person or having any physical contact.

Link had been in jail on murder charges at the time, court records indicate. Her trial began on Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to NBC 6.

Court records indicate that Link was charged with murder in June 2022, two years before she later gave birth.

NBC 6, Local 10 and CBS Miami reported that Link is accused of killing her partner, Pedro Jimenez, who was fatally shot.

During the second day of her trial Thursday, NBC reported that prosecutors played body cam footage from the aftermath of the shooting in court.

Prosecutors reportedly claimed that when police arrived, Link misled investigators by pretending she had just found Jimenez suffering from a gunshot wound.

In the footage, which was published by NBC 6, Link can be heard saying, “I see a hole from the back and a hole from the front — he was shot in his leg.”

She can also be heard yelling, “I saw him laying there.”

NBC 6 and Local 10 both reported that Link’s attorneys have since admitted that she shot Jimenez, but are arguing that she killed him in self-defense.

“The evidence will show the victim was out of control,” her attorney Ayuban Tomas argued, according to Local 10. “He was unhinged, and he was dangerous. She fired a shot to get him to go away.”

WSVN reported that while in jail, Link had that baby of Joan Depaz, who is also accused of murder, according to court records.

The outlet reported that the two used bedding to make a line between their two vents, which Depaz reportedly said he then used to pass semen rolled in Saran wrap to Link in her cell.

“I can’t believe it worked,” Link told WSVN. “I think everything happened for a reason.”
