NEED TO KNOW

  • Buck Rollins, 31, was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash in Atlanta, Ga., and walked away from the scene carrying his golf clubs
  • Amy Blanc Lacy, 62, a script supervisor who worked on The Walking Dead for 10 years, was killed in the crash, according to authorities
  • Rollins was arrested and charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving and speeding

A longtime script supervisor on popular Hollywood movies and shows including the long-running TV series The Walking Dead was killed in a hit-and-run crash by a man who was seen walking away from the scene carrying his golf clubs, authorities allege.

On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, just after 5 p.m., Buck Rollins, 31, was driving a Hyundai Elantra westbound on Northside Parkway NW in Atlanta, Ga., when he lost control of the car and collided with a Toyota Prius as it was passing through the intersection on Mount Paran Road NW, the Atlanta Police Department alleged in a news release on Sept. 10.

Rollins was allegedly going 90 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone when he drove over the curb, which caused the car to launch into the air and hit the Prius, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

The car was going 91 mph at the time of impact, the affidavit claims.

Amy Blanc Lacy, 62, a passenger in the backseat of the Prius on the driver’s side, where the car was struck, was critically injured in the crash. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries after she was taken off of life support on Friday, Sept. 5.

Lacy, according to IMDB, worked on shows including The Walking Dead from 2010 to 2020, Halt and Catch Fire in 2014 and most recently, The Great Lillian Hall in 2024.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, her son Oliver Lacy, 23, and another son, Adrian Lacy, 25, were hospitalized for their injuries.

After Rollins’ car struck the driver’s side of the Prius, he continued driving on Mount Paran Road, stopping near the Interstate 75 bridge, according to the affidavit.

He was seen on video taking his golf clubs out of the car and “walking away casually from the scene of the accident,” per the affidavit.

Two days after the crash, authorities spoke to Rollins who allegedly told them he had suffered a seizure and walked home.

He allegedly said he didn’t know why he left the scene and had been golfing before the accident.

Data from the airbag control modules shows that Rollins allegedly removed his foot from the accelerator and started breaking 2.5 seconds before impact, “which calls into question his claim of having a seizure during the course of this accident,” the affidavit states.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Rollins surrendered to officers and was arrested and charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving and speeding.

As police continue to investigate, Lacy’s loved ones are mourning her loss.

She was laid to rest with an eco-friendly burial on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and her family shared that she was also an organ donor, Fox 5 reports.

In a GoFundMe set up to help her family, organizers wrote, “Amy Lacy was a radiant and beautiful presence in the Film Community, touching the lives to (sic) of so many. Amy raised three wonderful children, filling their lives with joy, laughter and dance.”

“In a tragic accident, we will lose her, leaving her family to navigate this tremendous loss,” the fundraiser reads.

“Let’s come together to support her children during this difficult time. Any help you can provide for her funeral and the expenses ahead will be greatly appreciated. Amy your spirit with (sic) forever illuminate our lives, and you will continue to dance in our hearts.”

Rollins was released from jail on $70,000 bond, online jail records show.

It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.
