Police looking into reports of an active shooter at the University of Arkansas have been unable to confirm “any active threats on campus at this time,” according to an updated statement from the school posted on Monday, Aug. 25.

“Avoid, deny, defend protocols have been lifted at this time while police continue to patrol campus, but please be vigilant,” the statement reads, adding that classes are cancelled for the remainder of the day.

This comes a few hours after students received a report through the RazALERT Emergency Notification system to stay away from the school’s Mullins Library, due to an active shooter, according to the North West Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

“Avoid. Deny. Defend,” the RazALERT Emergency Notification read.

Police set up a perimeter around the area and some students were evacuated, per the Gazette, though Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Sgt. Stephen Mauk said at the time there was no evidence of a shooting and they were continuing to track leads and look for evidence.

According to an updated police statement this afternoon, multiple agencies responded to the initial call that came in around 12:30 p.m. local time.

“Since the original call, multiple calls at multiple locations around the university have come in. As of now, there are no confirmed gunshots, no confirmed injuries, no known suspects, and no arrests have been made,” the statement, which was posted just before 4 p.m. local time, reads.

“We are following up on every call and investigating every lead. Safety of all students, faculty, and our community is our top priority,” it says.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
