NEED TO KNOW

  • On Thursday, Aug. 14, Emmanuel Haro went missing from outside a store on Yucaipa Boulevard in California
  • Rebecca Haro alleges that she was attacked before her 7-month-old son was taken from her, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD)
  • Police have not released any suspect information at this time as they continue to search for the missing infant

A seven-month-old baby has allegedly been kidnapped after his mother was attacked outside a store in California.

At around 7:47 p.m. local time on Thursday, Aug. 14, deputies responded to reports that Emmanuel Haro had gone missing from the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) said in a news release shared on X. Rebecca Haro, the seven-month-old baby’s mom, allegedly told police that she was attacked before her child was kidnapped at the scene.

“Investigators from our Specialized Investigations Division are continuing to investigate the reported kidnapping of a seven-month-old, after the child’s mother reported being attacked outside a retail store on Yucaipa Boulevard last night,” SBCSD wrote in an update on X on Friday, Aug. 15.

“K9 scent-tracking dogs were deployed but the child was not located. No suspect information is available at this time … We appreciate the community’s understanding as we work around the clock to locate the victim,” they added.

Rebecca visited a local park for her son’s football practice with her husband and their two other children before driving to a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on Yucaipa Boulevard to pick up a mouthguard for her son, KTLA reported. Emmanuel needed his diaper changed and so she lay him down in her car to change him.

“I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, ‘Hola,’ and I don’t remember anything since,” Rebecca told the outlet as she appeared with a black eye. “I woke up here on the floor and I didn’t see Emmanuel.” She alleged that someone “snatched” her son out of her vehicle.

Rebecca said she looked around her vehicle in search of her son and ran into the store looking for him before calling 911, per KTLA.

An Amber alert wasn’t issued in this case as no descriptions of the suspect or vehicle were provided, per KTLA.

Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, told the outlet that the family “doesn’t have enemies” and he can’t think of anyone who would want to hurt their child.
