NEED TO KNOW

  • On Saturday, Aug. 9, at least six people were injured in a shooting in Baltimore, Maryland
  • According to Baltimore police, “multiple rounds” were fired as a group of people were outside eating crabs
  • “Multiple streets in the area are closed to the public. Please avoid the area,” police wrote on X, following the incident

At least six people have been injured in a mass shooting in northwest Baltimore.

At around 8:46 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 9, Baltimore police responded to reports of a shooting at Spaulding and Queensbury Avenues, where they located six victims who had been injured, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said in a news conference.

The victims included four men and one woman, with ages ranging from 23 to 52, and a five-year-old girl who was shot in the hand. “Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that [the girl’s] injury is very serious,” Worley said in the news conference, per WBFF FOX45 Baltimore.

A 38-year-old man was critically injured in the shooting and was sent to the hospital for surgery, ABC News reported, citing Baltimore police. All of the other victims were also treated at the hospital for their injuries.

“Both our homicide and district detective units are on the scene,” said Worley, per the outlet. “We have very little information at this point. All we know is there’s multiple rounds fired, multiple victims.”

Worley stated in the news conference that it appears someone “opened fire” as a group of people were sitting outside eating crabs.

Police believe that the victims were possibly targeted in the shooting, Worley added. No details of any possible suspects have been released at this time.

“The detectives are going to be at the hospital questioning any of our possible victims and any possible witnesses … to see what we can piece together and find out what happened here tonight,” Worley said in the news conference.

The Baltimore Police Department have restricted access to the area amid their investigation.

“BPD is scene of a mass shooting at the intersection of Spaulding & Queensbury Avenues. Multiple streets in the area are closed to the public. Please avoid the area. More information to follow as it becomes available,” the police wrote on X.

Baltimore police forensic investigators collect evidence and mark shell casings with evidence markers at the scene of a mass shooting that injures six people, including a 5-year-old girl, on Queensbury Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, on August 9, 2025. Northern District Officers respond to the 5100 block of Queensbury Avenue on Saturday evening at approximately 8:46 p.m. and discover four males and two females with wounds. All of the victims are transported to area hospitals for treatment. A 38-year-old male is originally listed in critical condition. The 5-year-old girl, a 23-year-old female, a 32-year-old male, a 33-year-old male, and a 52-year-old male are believed to be suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
