Two men have been arrested in California after an argument broke out while they were waiting in line to buy Pokémon cards, police have said.

On Saturday, July 5 at approximately 9:22 a.m. local time, Colma Police Department responded to reports “of a physical altercation involving multiple individuals at GameStop, located at 4929 Junipero Serra Boulevard,” per a press release shared on Facebook.

“Upon arrival, officers located one victim with lacerations to the head and multiple stab wounds,” the release stated.

“Officers immediately began to render medical aid to the victim at the scene, and he was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in stable condition,” police added.

Officers said that a verbal argument had broken out between the victim and one of the two suspects — Miguel OrellanasFlores, a 49-year-old San Francisco resident — after OrellanasFlores “tried to cut in line to buy Pokémon cards.”

The second suspect has been identified as San Francisco resident Isaiah Calles, 27.

“The argument turned physical when OrellanasFlores struck the victim in the back of the head with a glass mason jar. The second male, Calles, then grabbed the broken shards of glass of the mason jar and began to stab the victim multiple times,” police said in the release.

GameStop

The post stated, “OrellanasFlores and Calles were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, battery with serious bodily injury and conspiracy to commit a crime. Both were transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.”

Video footage shared by KRON4 showed the brawl occurring on the street outside the store, with one of the men insisting he’d apologized before the fight broke out.

Before the suspects’ arrest, police said they’d “both fled the scene in two different vehicles, a Honda, and a Toyota, prior to officers’ arrival.”

“The victim provided officers with photos of the suspect’s vehicles, that included the license plates,” the release noted.

Colma Police Department

“The Honda was located by Colma Police Officers in the area of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Serramonte Boulevard. The Daly City Police Department later located the Toyota at Gellert Park in Daly City,” police said.
