Two men have been charged in relation to the death of an influencer who was shot on the beach where he filmed his final video hours earlier.
Chrystofer A. Whyte, who amassed a following of more than 100,000 on TikTok where he posted under the username hi.imchrys, was shot to death on a Long Branch, N.J. beach on June 12. He was 18 years old.
According to a press release issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, an underage teen and an 18-year-old man were both charged for their alleged involvement in the crime.
The juvenile faces the following juvenile complaints: “Murder, conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and hindering.”
His identity is not being released due to his age, and he is currently in a juvenile detention center.
Eighteen-year-old Dwayne Exilus also faces charges of “second-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree hindering, and one count of fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon.”

Whyte was pronounced dead on the scene by the Long Branch Police Department after emergency responders arrived at the beach at Pier Village around 8:58 p.m. He suffered a single gunshot wound.

An investigation into Whtye’s death is ongoing.
The content creator shared two final videos on TikTok on the day of his death.
The first was of him reclining in a chair. “Stay away from ppl that ignore you until they need you,” text over the clip reads.

In his final post, Whyte reclined in a striped blue beach chair and panned the camera up to reveal the crowd of beachgoers behind him and his pastel pink swimsuit. He tagged #longbranch in the accompanying caption.
