  • Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs made the judge laugh by complimenting him for his work overseeing the trial
  • Combs is charged with sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and racketeering and has pleaded not guilty
  • Combs declined to testify and the defense rested its case after 23 minutes

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ declined to testify at his trial, as his defense rested its case Tuesday, June 24 without calling a single witness.

During Tuesday’ court proceedings, Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs how he was feeling.

“I’m doing great, your honor,” the music mogul responded. “I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job.”

Subramanian laughed after receiving Combs’ compliment.

The defense rested its case after just 23 minutes by reading a series of text messages between Combs and Casandra “Cassie” Ventura into the record.

“You think you can [Freak-Off] without getting high? Lol,” Combs wrote in one of the messages.

“Yeah I’ll just have to be at my level and what is good for me,” Ventura replied, per defense counsel’s reading.

The prosecution did not offer a rebuttal.

Closing arguments are expected to begin Thursday, June 26. Jury deliberations could begin as early as Friday, though more likely they will start the following Monday.

Combs is charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution and has pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution rested its case against Combs on Tuesday, June 24, having called 34 witnesses over 29 days of testimony.

Among the witnesses called were women who said they were abused by Combs over the course of several years, including Ventura, with whom the music mogul had been in a relationship for 11 years.
