NEED TO KNOW

  • Sean “Diddy” Combs will spend Memorial Day in prison as his sex trafficking and racketeering trial goes on a brief pause for the holiday
  • An executive assistant at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where the rapper is being held, told PEOPLE that Combs will have the chance to take part in “spades card games, dominoes, 3 on 3 basketball tournament and soccer tournament” offered to prisoners for the holiday
  • Meals for the inmates will be the usual Monday menu, consisting of chili and baked potatoes, chicken sandwiches and more

As Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial goes on a brief break so his New York City courthouse can close for Memorial Day, the disgraced music mogul will spend the holiday behind bars.

Eight months after being arrested in the lobby of a five-star Manhattan hotel, the rap mogul, 55, has been on trial in the Southern District of New York courtroom for racketeering, sex trafficking and other charges on accusations he abused numerous people throughout his lifetime.

Combs has been at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) since his initial arrest, and is being held in 4 North — a fourth-floor dormitory-style unit that he shares with about 20 other men.

An executive assistant in the prison told PEOPLE that Combs and his fellow inmates will be offered several activities for Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.

“Spades card games, dominoes, 3 on 3 basketball tournament and soccer tournament,” the executive assistant said.

According to a prison menu obtained by PEOPLE, Combs and the other inmates at MDC will eat a normal, rotating Monday meal, beginning with fruit, cereal, skim milk and a breakfast cake to start their day.

For lunch, Combs will have the choice of baked chili cheese tots or a baked potato served with green beans, whole wheat bread, fruit and a drink.

Dinner will then consist of either a chicken breast sandwich or a chickpea burger on a bun with some pinto beans, steamed rice, corn and a drink.

The Metropolitan Detention Center, (MDC) in Brooklyn, a United States federal administrative detention facility is pictured on July 6, 2020 in New York City.

After the rapper’s initial arrest in September 2024, a source told PEOPLE he is not receiving any special treatment while incarcerated in Brooklyn.

“He is being treated like any other detainee awaiting trial,” the source said. “As with all public figures in his position, he was placed on suicide watch upon admittance to the facility as a precaution.”

Combs’ trial began on May 12. He has denied all of the allegations against him and pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges.

So far, jurors have heard from his former employees Kaplan and James, his former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and her mother, a makeup artist and Kid Cudi.

The trial is expected to last several weeks, and Judge Arun Subramanian recently confirmed that it will most likely conclude before July 4.

Combs is currently being held without bail at MDC. If convicted on all counts, he faces a potential life sentence.
