Disturbing photographs shown to jurors at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial — allegedly depicting the brutal injuries sustained by Casandra “Cassie” Ventura — were released on Monday, May 19.
Last week, the R&B singer, 38, spent four days on the witness stand testifying, in part, about the March 5, 2016, beating in an elevator bank at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City that was captured on hotel surveillance video.
Jurors were shown pictures of the former model with a swollen lip, a black eye, a cut on her face and bruises as alleged evidence in Combs’ trial in Manhattan federal court on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York made the photographs prosecutors have used as government exhibits in the trial public on Monday, May 19.
Federal prosecutors showed jurors the pictures of the alleged abuse to illustrate how Combs repeatedly abused Ventura and used the criminal enterprise he created to coerce and control her and others.
In one of the photographs jurors were shown, Ventura is wearing big black sunglasses to cover up a black eye from the hotel beating when she “got hit in the face” at the hotel, she testified.
Ventura took the pictures during an Uber ride on March 5, 2016, after leaving the hotel, prosecutors said.
Two days after the beating, Ventura had to walk the red carpet for the premiere of her movie, The Perfect Match.

The premiere was for the “biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she testified about the movie, testifying that now she had to attend the premiere with a black eye and a “fat lip,” she said.
Prosecutors showed jurors pictures of Ventura at a fitting for the gown she wore to the red carpet, during which she wore sunglasses to hide her black eye.
They also showed the jury pictures of her wearing a cocktail dress at the premiere’s after-party with a bruise on her leg.
Other pictures taken by Ventura’s mother in 2011 show Ventura pointing out bruises on her thigh and lower back.
Jurors were also shown a photo of a bloodied cut above Ventura’s eyebrow.
Combs could face up to life in prison if he is convicted on all counts. Since his arrest, he has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
