Adrian Peterson, the former NFL MVP running back, was arrested in Minnesota and charged with driving while impaired.
Peterson, who spent nearly a decade with the Minnesota Vikings, was in town for an NFL Draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium, where the Vikings play, according to KSTP.
Hennepin County jail records show that Peterson was arrested early on the morning of Friday, April 25, and released hours later on $4,000 bail.
Peterson was charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired in Minnesota, according to jail records.
According to reports from KSTP, the Minnesota Star Tribune and KARE 11, state police allege that Peterson was driving 83 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone at 3:20 a.m. KSTP and the Star Tribune, citing police, report that a preliminary breathalyzer measured his blood alcohol content at 0.14%.
The outlets report that he is due in court on May 9. It is not immediately clear if he has entered a plea.
Peterson played for the Vikings from 2007 to 2016, where he was regarded as arguably the best running back in football at the time. He was named a first-team All-Pro four times and won the NFL MVP in 2012.
