A Massachusetts man is accused of killing his wife and staging her death to look like a suicide, according to authorities.
On Tuesday, April 15, Thiago Oliveira, 33, of Lynn, was arraigned on a murder charge in connection with the death of Carla Lourenco Da Silva, 32, also of Lynn, the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said in a statement.
Oliveira pleaded not guilty when he appeared in Superior Court in Salem.
Police allege that Oliveira murdered Lourenco Da Silva on or about January 20 in a Lynn home and attempted to make it look like a suicide by hanging.
Oliveira had previously been charged with misleading a police investigation into her death on January 23.
Oliveira remains held without bail following the arraignment on the murder charge.

Oliveira is scheduled to return to court on May 14 for discovery motions to be filed.
Oliveira’s attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
