Minnesota-based and veteran-owned Alexandria Pro-Fab recently acquired the assets and intellectual property of Adams Arms and announced plans to relaunch the company’s piston-driven ARs and components this summer. “The quality of our products will be the same,” said Greg Ellingson, chief operating officer of Alexandria Pro-Fab. “It’s just under different leadership. We’ll be able to cut out some of the middleman element of things and ensure that Adams Arms remains on the leading edge in piston-driven systems.”

Adams Arms was founded in 2007 by Jim Granger in Palm Harbor, FL. The company received its first patent the next year and quickly gained a loyal following among modern sporting rifle owners.

The company moved to Florida’s Pasco County in 2012. In 2013 it opened a sister firm, Voodoo Innovations, at first specializing in treatments and coatings. Later it introduced a line of pistol slides.

Adams Arms defaulted on a loan in 2019 and the next year became the property of lien-holder Littlebanc Advisers. That company assumed all assets, including machinery and intellectual property and kept the firm alive under the name Adams Arms Holdings.

The company introduced its first pistol in 2021, the AA19. A review of the gun for Shooting Illustrated by Brian McCombie noted its reliability. “In over 200 rounds, the gun experienced zero failures to feed or eject,” he wrote, adding later that “The AA19 might also be the grippiest poly-framed pistol this shooter has ever used. The front and back straps have a sandpaper like texture, while the sides of the grip feature a raised pattern that not only provides good traction but are also embossed high onto the grip.”

In 2024 new owners took over. Operations moved to Brooksville, FL. Voodoo was no longer a separate brand, although its gun and pistol parts were still offered under the Adams Arms label. The company closed for business later that year.

Alexandria Pro-Fab was established in 1976 and since 2008 has been an OEM source for the firearm industry. It offers bolt-carrier groups, receivers, handguards, charging handles and more today. The company’s plant is located in Alexandria, MN, and it has roughly 80 employees.

“Our intent is to ultimately offer most, if not all, of Adams Arms’ previous product lines,” Ellingson said. Among the first enthusiasts can expect to see available are 16-inch-barreled carbines and 11.5-inch-barreled large-format pistols.
