A Maryland community is reeling after a real estate agent was found dead under troubling circumstances last week.

Officers responding to a Chevy Chase, Md., home on Wednesday, April 2, found the body of 61-year-old real estate agent Kate Fralin, the Montgomery County Department of Police said in a statement this week.

Police were responding to the home after a request for a welfare check, WUSA 9 reported.

The slain woman’s husband, William Scott Fralin, was also found fatally shot inside the residence, per police.

Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, authorities determined Kate’s manner of death to be homicide.

In an obituary, Kate is remembered as a mother of three with an eclectic career — from public relations to founding a sustainable fashion brand, and later becoming a realtor in Chevy Chase, where she worked closely with empty nesters downsizing their homes.

“She had the gifts of grit and grace that served her clients well. She was a beloved colleague of everyone she worked with throughout her esteemed professional life,” reads part of the obituary.

A co-worker, who is not named, told FOX 5 DC, “Kate was whip-smart, strategic, a little scrappy, elegant, classy.”

“She was everything you thought when she walked in the room, you couldn’t miss her and you didn’t want to, she’s a great person,” the co-worker said.

William’s cause and manner of death remain officially unannounced, but police are investigating his death as a suicide.
