Police in Texas are investigating the death of the infant who was fatally mauled by the family dog.
First responders were called to a Baytown apartment complex on the afternoon of April 1 after receiving a report of the attack, according to the city’s public information officer, Jason Calder.
A GoFundMe page and multiple Facebook posts are now revealing the identity of the victim – Kyomi Temple.
“It is with a heavy heart we share the devastating loss of our precious Kyomi Temple, who was taken away too soon at just 6 months old,” reads the GoFundMe page.
The page goes on to say: “As we grieve, we are faced with unexpected funeral expenses and time away from work as we mourn. We are humbly asking for any support you can offer—whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser.”
The Baytown Police Department is investigating the incident, though no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed at this time, said Calder.

Calder told PEOPLE that the child was taken to the hospital after the attack, while Baytown Animal Services arrived on the scene and removed two dogs from the infant’s apartment.
Both dogs were male pit bull mixes, said Calder, and workers were able to identify the dog involved in the attack once they arrived on the scene he said.
The dog involved in the attack will be euthanized, said Calder, who noted that any dog that kills another person or animal is put down under a city ordinance. Calder also said that the owner of the dog verbally agreed to have the dog responsible for the fatal attack put down.
