Rumors of the demise of Nissan may have been exaggerated. The automaker is about to unleash a full quiver of new models including a Nissan Leaf crossover, a brand-new Rogue with gas and PHEV, and a rugged off-roader with electric power. It has plans for Infiniti to launch new models too.

Nissan’s lineup is about to see some massive changes. Changes the likes of which it probably hasn’t seen since it changed from Datsun to Nissan in this country or introduced Infiniti. That includes 10 new and refreshed models, including hybrids and EVs, as well as new models from Infiniti.

The first vehicle will be the Nissan Leaf crossover. Yes, you read that correctly.

No More Tiny Hatchback — the Nissan Leaf Crossover Is Here

Two generations of Leaf have been oddball small hatches. The second might have been a touch more conventional, but it still shouted EV from the rooftops and sold in very small numbers.

For try number three, it’s a shape people actually buy: a compact crossover. It will still be an EV, and, like Nissan’s new Murano, it will clearly aim at buyers who want stylish over rugged.

That’s made clear with its new standard 19s with low-profile tires. What you can’t see is Nissan’s new 3-in-1 electric system that puts the inverter, gears, and motor in one unit for more efficiency.

The new Leaf will also be Nissan’s first with an NACS (aka Tesla Supercharger) plug. Expect more about the new Leaf this year. It will go on sale by the end of fiscal year 2025, which for Nissan is the end of March 2026.

Plug-In Rogue, Refreshed Pathfinder, and Is That a New Xterra?

Nissan is also bringing its first plug-in hybrid to dealers in the U.S. The Nissan Rogue will get a plug with some very surprising timing.

It’s surprising because the Rogue PHEV will arrive this year, and an all-new fourth-gen model will arrive in FY 2026. That one will get gas and PHEV variants, with the latter getting Nissan’s e-Power system, which uses the gas engine only to make electricity, never to drive the wheels.

A refreshed version of the Pathfinder SUV will also come this year. The current model with its callbacks to the original 1985 design dates back to 2021.

On the car side, Nissan plans to launch an all-new Sentra later this year. The sedan market is dwindling, especially in the smallest sizes, so this one won’t have much competition.

For 2027, Nissan plans to launch an EV aimed at off-roaders. It calls it “an adventure-focused SUV,” and it will be built at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Miss.

The boxy-looking adventure SUV is the one in the back left of the lead photo. Look closely, and you can see some hints of Nissan’s much-loved and much-missed Xterra SUV. Note that’s our use of the name, not an official one from Nissan. An Infiniti version will come a year later with more tech.

Infiniti Won’t Be Left Out of Nissan Future Plans

On the Infiniti side, the luxury brand will start with a refreshed QX60 crossover later this year. The full-sized and nearly-new QX80 will get a Sport package.

For 2026, Infiniti will launch an all-new model. Called the QX65, it will be a crossover coupe. The company describes it as a stylish two-row alternative and says its design is inspired by the still-good-looking FX of 2003-2008.

Nissan also revealed its latest e-Power hybrid system. It calls it 5-in-1 because all of the key components — motor, inverter, gears, generator, and more gears — are in one unit. Driving the wheels only with electricity, similar to how Mitsubishi’s system works, gives a more EV-like feel.

The system uses a new 1.5L engine designed just for this system, used nowhere else. Nissan says the system will be up to 15% more fuel efficient at high speeds and deliver lower emissions. The new e-Power system will debut in the fourth-generation Rogue PHEV in FY 2026.
