A Texas teen is accused of shooting his mother and sister after ingesting what a Houston police lieutenant described as “a bunch of edibles.”
The 15-year-old, who was not publicly named by police, allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher that he was going to kill someone or himself, according to reports from KHOU, KTRK and Fox 26.
When police arrived, they found the suspect’s mother and 17-year-old sister suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the outlets reported.
“[Police] found out that the 15-year-old suspect had just eaten a bunch of edibles and I guess had a bad reaction to them, at which point he ended up using that gun and shooting his mother multiple times in the back and shooting one of his sisters multiple times,” said Houston police Lt. J.P. Horelica, according to KHOU.
Citing police, KTRK reported that the suspect, an adult and another teen took THC edibles together and that the 15-year-old began experiencing issues, after which an ambulance was called.
As the other two tried to calm him down and started laughing at him, he allegedly got a gun and committed the shooting, police reportedly said, according to KTRK. Police did not identify the people with whom the teen allegedly took the edibles.
